Introducing PITSTOP.Social Community Customs™
JDMClareCommunity Customs™ is a PITSTOP.Social project built around one simple belief:
We all have a story.
This project - turning real cars into wearable conversation starters - exists as part of a wider mental health campaign that is rooted in car culture, community, and conversation.
What is Community Customs™?
Community Customs™ is a mental health project X clothing collection that uses car culture as a gateway to conversation.
By turning individual cars into wearable artwork, we give people a natural way to share personal stories, identity, and resilience, without needing to lead with labels or diagnoses.
Every design instantly becomes part of a wider mental health campaign by PITSTOP.Social, intended to spark connection, reduce stigma, and remind people that [like cars] mental health is more than what you see on the surface.
Each Piece (Build):
- Is designed around a real story, real person, and real vehicle
- Is "built" in-house with our creative partner, Carfectionery
- Forms part of a wider mental health awareness campaign
- Promotes open conversation around mental health
This is not print-on-demand and it’s not automated. Every design is chosen, shaped, and released with intention - turning personal stories into clothing that carries pride, identity, and meaning.
How Community Customs™ are Determined
Community Customs™ isn’t about picking the best cars - it’s about elevating the stories that keep people moving forward.
Every volume is curated, not crowdsourced. That’s how we protect quality, meaning, and mental health integrity, while staying inclusive and community-led.
1. Builds Are Considered, Not Submitted
When Community Customs™ considerations open, we invite the community to put their vehicles forward, usually via a Facebook post (exceptions TBA). This isn’t first-come, first-served. And it isn’t based on likes, popularity, or budget.
Each volume has a fixed number of build slots, so we can give every selected car the attention it deserves in design. As part of consideration, we ask that you share a little about your journey with the car / why it matters to you.
2. We Look at the Whole Picture
Every build is considered through a story-first lens. We’re not specifically looking at the car - we’re looking at what it represents. We’ll run a short story alongside its release, if you’ll let us.
When choosing Community Customs™ we typically consider:
- Story - What the car means to you, what it’s carried you through, or what it represents in your life
- Intent - Thoughtful ownership, purpose, or personal connection (not perfection)
- Alignment to the Volume - How the car and story align with the current Community Customs™ theme
A car lived in and relied upon can hold as much significance as one built for show. Even a modern Supra can belong within a classic Volume when the personal story resonates. Community Customs™ is shaped by meaning, and that begins with the story you bring forward.
Why We Created Community Customs™
PITSTOP.Social exists for action, impact, and awareness for for mental health - especially within automotive spaces where conversations don’t always come easily.
Action - Community Customs™ gives car enthusiasts a meaningful way to get involved. Each limited volume turns real cars into wearable designs, using car culture as a positive force for mental health conversation.
Impact - Every release helps normalise talking about mental health. Each piece worn out in the wild becomes a quiet signal of support, reducing stigma, building connection, and reminding others they’re not alone.
Awareness - Cars are often judged at a glance, performance and capacity assumed without seeing what’s under the bonnet. Mental health works in the same way. Community Customs™ exists to slow that judgement and highlight that there’s always more beneath the surface.
Combining the thoughtful design of real cars, owned by real people with real stories, we create clothing that starts conversations, naturally.
