Introducing PITSTOP.Social Community Customs™

Community Customs™ is a PITSTOP.Social project built around one simple belief:

We all have a story.

This project - turning real cars into wearable conversation starters - exists as part of a wider mental health campaign that is rooted in car culture, community, and conversation.

What is Community Customs™?

Community Customs™ is a mental health project X clothing collection that uses car culture as a gateway to conversation.

By turning individual cars into wearable artwork, we pave the way for an authentic route to share personal stories, identity, and resilience, without leading with labels or diagnoses.

Every design instantly becomes part of a wider mental health campaign, intended to spark connection, reduce stigma, and encourage people to look deeper - because mental health is less about what's on the surface, and more about what's driving us all from within.

Each Piece:

  • Is designed around a real story, real person, real vehicle
  • Is "built" in-house with our creative partner, Carfectionery
  • Forms part of a wider mental health awareness campaign
  • Promotes open conversation around mental health
  • Carries an "Owner's Share" - so the person behind the car always benefits from their story being told

This is not print-on-demand and it's not automated. Every design is chosen, shaped, and released with intention - turning personal stories into clothing that carries pride, identity, and meaning.

Built Fair: How Owners Are Looked After

If we're going to turn your car and your story into something people wear, you should get more out of it than a nod in the caption. Community Customs™ is built on three commitments to every owner:

1. The Owner's Share

A set amount from every single item sold goes to the owner - and you choose where it lands:

  • Paid directly to you, or
  • Donated to our mental health fundraising in your name (and your car's name)

Some owners want the share, some want it doing good in the world. Both are the right answer. Either way, the value your story creates never just disappears into the till.

2. Your Story, Your Steering Wheel

You stay in control, always:

  • Final sign-off on the design and the story before anything is released
  • The right to edit or withdraw your story later - we know that your relationship with your own journey can change, and that's okay
  • You licence your car's likeness to us, you don't hand it over - the car, the build, and the story remain yours
  • Limited runs - each Community Custom is a numbered, time-boxed release, an honour with a finish line, not something we sweat forever

3. Nothing Under the Bonnet

Transparency isn't a policy here, it's the product. Every Community Customs™ listing will state exactly what the Owner's Share is and where it's going - whether that's to the owner or to charity in their name. You'll know where your money goes before you hit checkout, and future owners can see precisely what they're signing up for before considerations even open.

How Community Customs™ are Determined

Community Customs™ isn't about picking out aesthetic cars - it's about elevating the stories that keep people moving forward...

Builds Are Considered, Not Submitted

When Community Customs™ considerations officially open, we'll invite the community to put their vehicles forward, usually via a Facebook post (exceptions TBA). Considerations will not be based on likes, popularity, or budget.

As part of consideration, we ask that you share a little about your journey with the car / why it matters to you. If that's not your thing, then maybe something humorous or a quote that gets you by on tough days, you're the lead artist here... We're looking at the whole picture.

Every vehicle is considered through a story-first lens. We're not looking at the car / van / bike exclusively - we're looking at what it represents. We'll run a short story alongside its release, too, if you'll let us. More TBA.

When considering Community Customs™ we'll typically look at:

Story What the car means to you, what it's carried you through, or what it represents in your life

Intent Thoughtful ownership, purpose, or personal connection (not perfection)

Alignment to the Cause Getting people to consider mental health as an approachable conversation is the goal with Community Customs™, and that begins with the stories you bring forward.

When it's a close call, we may put the final decision to a community vote - because this project belongs to all of us, it feels right that the community helps choose whose story rolls out next.

How to Participate

Follow and stay connected, considerations for Community Customs™ open via our social channels.

  • Subscribe to emails
  • Follow on Instagram / Facebook
  • Consider joining the community for real-time discussions
  • We'll add a social post with all the details when considerations open

If your build is chosen, we'll talk you through everything - the design process, the story, and a simple plain-English agreement covering your Owner's Share and your rights - before anything goes anywhere near a press.
